Join us in Historic Grand Rapids as we come together to celebrate 250 years of American freedom, history and community with the dedication of a beautiful new mosaic glass eagle.
Created to commemorate our nation’s 250th birthday, Freedom Takes Flight is a community project made possible through the support of the Village of Grand Rapids, the Grand Rapids Historical Society, the Grand Rapids Arts Council and the Grand Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce.
The celebration will begin at Historic Grand Rapids Town Hall with a patriotic program honoring the history and spirit of our nation.
Following the program, we’ll take the celebration to the streets!

250th birthday by joining a patriotic parade from Town Hall to Pirates’ Park.

This is your opportunity to be part of the celebration! We encourage businesses, organizations, families and community members to decorate in red, white and blue and help make this a memorable tribute to America’s 250th birthday.
The parade will begin at Historic Grand Rapids Town Hall, travel down Front Street, turn right onto Wapakoneta Street, and continue to Pirates’ Park.
Upon arrival at Pirates’ Park, we will gather for the dedication of our new Freedom Takes Flight mosaic eagle.
